Spring Semester Updates
Kesnel, what is something you are proud of this semester?
I recently had the privilege of representing Hope College at a conference about leadership and character at Wake Forest University. It was such a beautiful experience and I loved speaking about the life-changing impact Hope College is having in my life.
I also had the privilege of serving as the Emcee at "Images: A Reflection of Cultures" which is a display of the international communities here at Hope College. It went so well I got highlighted on Instagram by President Scogin, and that made me a popular guy for 5 minutes on campus.
And finally, I was selected as a Residential Assistant at one of the dorms for next semester. It was suggested to me that I could make a great RA and so I decided to apply and I am so exited about this opportunity next semester.
Dieula, what have you learned about yourself this semester at Libscomb University?
When I arrived at Lipscomb, one of my greatest desires was to not only learn and grow but be able to maintain my strong relationship with God. Lipscomb does an amazing job at both. I can honestly say that I am thriving academically and I am privileged to attend a weekly Bible study at school, which helps me stay accountable.
Academically, I am learning that there are some things to not neglect: discipline, balance, focus, and people. I am looking forward to continuing to succeed in school and engaging in campus activities. Personally, college life is teaching me that it is important to cultivate great relationships, and to seek support, as I go through this amazing journey.
I am also honored to be have been selected as a member of the upcoming Orientation Team at Lipscomb this summer. This will be my summer job and will allow me to continue investing in this school that I love.
Moise, what are you most grateful for this semester?
I’ve been fortunate to receive support from the Hope Forward Program and the Phelps Scholar Program on campus. These programs have been a huge source of strength, academically and personally. I've learned to study smarter, not harder. And I’ve met people who understand my journey, and those relationships have made this transition so much smoother.
Another impactful part of my first semester was volunteering at various homeless shelters in Michigan. These experiences have been humbling and eye-opening, reminding me of the importance of giving back and staying grounded. It’s made me even more grateful for the opportunities I have.
And finally, I'm grateful that I was able to spend my spring break learning how to farm sustainably in Washington, D.C. It was incredible to gain hands-on experience and develop skills that will continue to help me grow both personally and professionally, and allow me to give back to my country in profound ways.
Family Update
Andre married the love of his life, Alexis, in a beautiful ceremony in November. The Cunnion brothers served as groomsmen and little Finn was a fantastic ring-bearer.
Andre and Alexis are excited to co-labor on behalf of the high school graduates in Haiti to bring more opportunities for pursuing a life of purpose. Join us in praying for God's abundant blessing on their life together.
