About The 509 Foundation

Our History

Donken Andre's journey from Haiti to founding The 509 Foundation is a testament to resilience and faith. After losing his home to a flood, he was raised in an orphanage where he became a house parent at 18. Facing challenges in pursuing higher education, a heartfelt prayer led to a life-changing opportunity when Jeannie and Mike Cunnion offered to host and support his studies in the U.S. At Lipscomb University, mentors like Dr. Steve Bonner and Rob Touchstone helped him realize that his calling extended beyond the pulpit. Inspired by courses in pastoral leadership and missional entrepreneurship, Donken envisioned a foundation to empower Haitian youth through education and job creation, aiming to break the cycle of poverty and foster leadership both inside and outside the church.
