About The 509 Foundation

Meet our Co-Founders

Mike & Jeannie Cunnion, and Donken Andre

Our History

Donken Andre's journey from Haiti to founding The 509 Foundation is a testament to resilience and faith. After losing his home and family to a flood, he was raised in an orphanage where he ultimately became a house parent and dreamed of attending college in the United States to become an agent of change for Haiti. While facing challenges in pursuing his dream after he graduated from high school, a heartfelt prayer led to a life-changing opportunity when Jeannie and Mike Cunnion offered to host him and support his studies in the U.S.

Andre came to the U.S. in 2018 and attended Lipscomb University, where he was inspired by courses in pastoral leadership and missional entrepreneurship to create opportunities in education and job creation for his fellow students who remained at the orphanage in Haiti and were also hoping for a life-changing opportunity. This led to co-founding the The 509 Foundation, alongside Jeannie and Mike Cunnion, in 2022.
